Nyanwan Glucan for General wellbeing

1. Blood sugar control

Nyanwan β-glucan absorbs water when it is dissolved in water, and has the property of becoming a gel. Therefore, if your pets take a meal (or a food containing Nyanwan β-glucan) together with Nyanwanβ-glucan, it will become attached to food in the stomach, digesting and absorbing carbohydrates will be slow, and postprandial blood glucose levels will be maintained at moderate levels.

In addition, because the postprandial increase in blood sugar level is not high, it prevents excessive secretion of insulin in the pancreas and suppresses the increase in fasting blood sugar level too. Thus, Nyanwan Glucan is thought to be effective also in diabetes prevention.

Study done with AF202- strain derived Beta Glucan on Blood sugar levels

  • Human subjects ate nothing after 21:00 of the night before the test.
  • One subject group ate the rice w/o glucan and the other group ate the rice with glucan. The test was practiced twice in different days. Same subjects ate the same samples in the same hour.
  • In the morning fasting on the test day, the preprandial blood glucose levels were measured by the ACCU-CHEK meter.
  • All subjects ate 200g of rice. The postprandial glucose levels were measured 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 120 minutes after the rice intake.
  • 35mg of β-glucan was added to 200g of rice for the administered group. Made the subjects unaware of the presence β-glucan in their test samples.
  • The serum insulin levels in both groups were measured by the Gurazaimu insulin-EIA TEST kit.     

We equated glucose levels before the intake to 100. This graph shows the rate of change in the glucose levels after the intake.In comparison the rice w/o glucan, the group that was administered the rice with glucan showed a significant suppression of elevated blood glucose levels 60 and 120 minutes after the rice intake.

2. Blood cholesterol normalization

When LDL cholesterol level in blood is high, it is said to cause lifestyle-related diseases such as atherosclerosis to thicken the blood vessel wall and make the blood flow worse. Therefore, it is important to keep LDL-cholesterol levels (and total cholesterol levels) at normal levels. Water-soluble β-glucan has the function of suppressing the absorption of cholesterol and keeping the total cholesterol level normal.

Study comparing effects of 150mg AF202 strain derived Beta-glucan VS 6g Barley β-glucan on LDL cholesterol levels

Intake of 150 mg / day of black yeast β-1,3-1,6-glucan significantly reduced LDL-cholesterol and total cholesterol levels for 4 weeks.

3. Constipation Prevention

Nyanwan beta-glucan, which takes in 300 to 1000 times the amount of water in the intestine and expands, is not digested and absorbed, and most of it is excreted as feces. At that time, Nyanwanβ-glucan mixed with the stool holds the water, softens the stool and increases its bulk. When the bulk increases, the intestinal wall is stimulated, and the peristaltic movement that promotes defecation becomes active, and constipation is resolved.

1. Activation of Immunity
